We are looking for an experienced Building Surveyor, with experience of carrying out defect diagnosis and remedial work schedules in accordance with the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018.

You’ll be carrying out a range of surveying functions, so you will need to have an awareness of damp, fire safety, asbestos, energy efficiency, as well as knowledge of housing disrepair and environmental health legislation.

This role could never be described as boring, you’ll need to thrive off a fast paced environment and enjoy a varied role.

Main job responsibilities:

  • Undertake assessments to produce Energy Performance Certificates as required for lettings.
  • Responsibility for undertaking, producing and subsequent action plans in relation to Fire Risk Assessments under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Act 2005.
  • Progress actions generated by Fire Risk Assessments with relevant teams as necessary.
  • Demonstrate competence to the building safety regulator (HSE) and meet the requirements of the new Fire Safety Bill and Building Safety agenda.
  • Responsibility for carrying out inspections, defect diagnosis and taking appropriate action.
  • Take appropriate action in accordance with the regulatory requirements of building notices, planning applications and housing standards referrals.
  • Carry out appropriate surveys and assessments in line with breaches of S11 of the Landlord & Tenant Act 1985, whgs asset management strategy and the Housing Health and Safety Rating System.

We're looking for someone who has:

  • A HNC in Construction Management, or experience of leading a project or team in asset inspection procedures, evidence recording and presentation.
  • An awareness of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) order 2005 and carrying out Fire Risk Assessments.
  • Knowledge of working with and managing Asbestos in buildings, including an understanding and awareness of the implications and risks associated with Asbestos.
  • Experience in the identification of different types of dampness and the ability to recommend and schedule the correct remedial work in accordance with the requirements of the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018
  • Knowledge of current housing disrepair and environmental health legislation and case law.
  • Understanding of the Housing Health and Safety Rating System.
